Education Outreach

Hello Atlanta,

We want to take a few minutes and welcome you to our new education outreach page. On this page you will find more information about all of our education programs.  In addition to our student mentor program, you will find access to three exciting new programs.

Our Mentor Program

Mentor is one of our first programs offered and has helped many young musicians expedite the development of their talent.  In this program, high school musicians are given the opportunity to practice and perform with our experienced musicians ranging from advanced amateurs to the professional.

Notes from the Composer

Notes from the Composer will share interesting information about the music on our performance schedule or in our library. Sometimes, it helps to know the history of a composition to understand the message the artist is trying to convey.  Other times, as in some of our wackier pieces, its good to know, the only purpose of the music is to make your laugh. We hope this section if both entertaining and informational.

Music Lessons

Music Lessons will feature a variety of learning activities you can share with the whole family.  Some of the activities will stretch your imagination, such as Bumble Bee.  Or, in the case of Steamboat Willie, help you understand more about the culture from a historical sense.

Music in the Classroom

One of our most exciting initiatives is Music in the Classroom.  Music, whether in the band room or the science lab, can help children learn.  Our musicians can help motivate students learn through a variety of activities.  However, learning does not stop with the diploma.  The benefits of learning music or using music to learn, is available to children of all ages from 2 to 62.

In closing, we would like to leave you with this thought.  Walt Disney once said "I would rather entertain and hope someone learned something than educate someone and hope they were entertained."  Our aim is to do both through our performance and our education outreach.
